Castlebay parent and LAPD Officer Kim Snyder was on hand at January’s Coffee with the Principal to offer suggestions on protecting yourself from burglaries and other crimes in the wake of the recent robberies in the vicinity of Castlebay the week of January 9th.

She admonished moms to never leave their purses in view in cars and in fact all valuables should be out of view, so criminals won’t be inspired to break in. Valuables at home should not be stored in bedrooms, because that is the first place that thieves look. When you are home, you should always respond to someone knocking on the door to let them know you are home, without opening the door. Often robbers will knock to see if you are home and if you don’t answer, they will proceed to the back of the house to break in.

She also recommends that you sign up with www.nixle.com. This is a website that the LAPD and other agencies use to report out crime information immediately using texts and email.
